Meeting Students Where They Are: Gator Roadshows a Success!

“Our goal is to meet students where they are,” said Courtney Lundgren, Executive Director of Student Communications and Transition Programs. And that’s what Gator Roadshows do, literally. Since UHD students live in the Greenspoint area and in Katy, UHD took our Enrollment Management departments, colleges, and support services on the road in July and August to make it that much easier for Gators to get their questions answered, enroll if need be, and line up their classes for the fall semester.

The Office of Enrollment Management inaugurated the program last summer to great success. This summer, more than 200 attendees visited the Gator Roadshows held at Hilton Houston North and Houston Marriott Energy Corridor.

The set-up at each location is impressive: Tables line the walls of a huge conference room. “We have representatives from Admissions, the Registrar’s, Financial Aid, Transfer Relations, Basic Needs, Veteran’s Services, and our colleges (Marilyn Davies College of Business, College of Humanities and Social Sciences, College of Public Service, and College of Sciences and Technology) all represented,” shared Lundgren as she pointed out the function of each table. In addition, Admissions counselors were on hand at high-top tables equipped with computers to help students complete the application and enroll.

“We have truly created a ‘one-stop shop’ where potential students can learn about UHD’s degree programs and how to apply, register for classes with the help of seasoned staff, understand financial aid options, and explore all that UHD has to offer to round out the student experience,” said Dr. Daniel Villanueva, Vice President of Enrollment Management.

Didn’t make it to a Gator Roadshow and still need to register for fall? It’s not too late! Visit the Enrollment Management page.
